6 On May 1st, Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos, attended the 44th anniversary celebration of Lao National Arbor Day and International Children's Day at the Laos Railway Vocational and Technical College, awarding the group with an "Outstanding Contribution Award".
Thongsalith Mangnome, Member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee and Director of the Central Office; Anouphath Douanglath, Member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee, Secretary of the Vientiane Municipal Party Committee, and Chairman of the Vientiane Municipal People's Assembly; Phoumpheng Singmala, Minister of Education and Sports; and Wang Chang, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, attended the celebration.

Thongloun spoke highly of the Railway College project, expressed his sincere gratitude to all participating units of the group, and presented the group with a certificate of "Outstanding Contribution Award" on behalf of the Lao Party Central Committee and government. He expressed his pleasure at visiting the college again, highlighting it as a strategic cooperation project driven by high-level decisions and promotion from the leaders of both China and Laos. He praised Yunnan Construction Investment Group for overcoming the impact of the epidemic and completing the construction ahead of schedule in 23 months, marking a new starting point for Laos' railway development. As the first railway vocational and technical college in Southeast Asia, the completion and official use of the college not only fills the gap in Laos' railway professional and technical education but will also become a talent base for the future construction of railways connecting Laos with Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. This represents hope for Laos' national economic development and a legacy for future generations.

More than 200 people attended the event, including Lao government officials, representatives of Chinese enterprises, representatives of the group's units in Laos, and representatives of teachers and students from the Railway College.

The Laos Railway Vocational and Technical College project is a grant aid project from the Chinese government. The Ministry of Commerce of China and the People's Government of Yunnan Province authorized the Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce to manage the project, with Yunnan Construction Investment Group undertaking the construction. The project started on September 20, 2021, and was completed and accepted on August 17, 2023, with a quality rating of "excellent". During the more than seven months of maintenance, participating units including the Group's International Engineering Department, Fifth Company, Sixth Company, Installation Joint-Stock Company, and Second Hydropower Company jointly dispatched a maintenance team with rich engineering experience. Adhering to the principle of "prevention first, safety first, timely repair, and dynamic management," they actively carried out daily inspections and project follow-up work, handling maintenance tasks promptly. They demonstrated the speed and quality of Yunnan Construction Investment Group, and through their actions, safeguarded and enhanced the Group's overseas brand image.
