On the evening of August 26, the water supply project of the Qiaojia County Third Water Plant, the pipeline installation project undertaken by the Eighth Engineering Project Department, was successfully put into operation.

The project is mainly divided into four sections according to the pipeline layout, including one raw water pipeline, one backup raw water pipeline, and two clear water pipelines. The total length of the pipeline is 16200 meters, with more than fifty air release valves, drain valves, main valves, and gate valves of different specifications. There are two 400m 3 pressure-reducing water pools and three 200m 3 pressure-reducing water pools. The newly built third water plant can produce 50000m 3 /d.

The project has a complex construction environment and high difficulty. Firstly, the pipeline mainly runs through mountainous areas with large terrain undulations, many ravines and valleys, and a large amount of shrubbery covering the ground surface, resulting in a large amount of stone excavation. Secondly, the entire pipeline section has steep slopes, sharp bends, and narrow or non-existent roads. Except for a small part of the pipeline laid along existing roads, most of the pipelines pass through mountains and fields, with no usable construction roads, making it difficult to transport pipeline and other construction materials. Thirdly, the slope along the line is relatively large, and the stones produced during excavation are difficult to store on site, easily causing safety accidents, resulting in a large workload and high difficulty in safety protection. Fourthly, the project passes through many farmlands, and the pipeline laying will damage the trees, crops, irrigation ditches and other properties of the villagers to some extent, making coordination and stability maintenance more difficult.

In response to the construction difficulties, the project department conducted a large number of on-site investigations and communication and coordination, and formulated detailed solutions. Firstly, excavators, winches, and self-made small vehicles were used in combination to ensure the smooth entry of construction materials. Secondly, active communication and coordination were carried out with the local village committees, and closed or semi-closed construction measures were adopted. Personnel were arranged to command the entire process, and hard protection was set up on sections of the road where rocks were prone to rolling, and safety warning signs were set up to ensure that the construction work proceeded safely and orderly. Thirdly, special personnel were assigned to communicate and coordinate with the villagers to ensure the smooth progress of the construction. Through the above measures, the project department successfully overcame the thorny problems of material entry, stability maintenance and coordination, and construction safety, ensuring that the construction work proceeded in an orderly manner as scheduled.

The successful water delivery this time will transport the raw water from the Yangjiagou tunnel entrance to the newly built third water plant to the second water plant for production and operation. The operating water volume basically meets the production requirements of the county's second water plant, marking the official commissioning of the Qiaojia County Third Water Plant water supply project and laying a solid foundation for the next stage of water delivery in the high-level water pool section.
