Every 5 month, the Mekong Delta, where Ho Chi Minh City, known as the "Shanghai of Vietnam", is located, often experiences heavy rain. Adverse weather conditions and insufficient effective construction time are the biggest challenges for all participants in the Vietnam Marubeni Packaging Paper Project. To this end, all project personnel gave up their year-end holidays and persisted at the construction site during the Spring Festival.
“These difficulties are nothing to us at Er'an. Accumulating strength for a breakthrough, waiting for the right time
2019 year 8 month, the Vietnam Marubeni Packaging Paper Project received its entry notice, and the project team, full of enthusiasm, arrived in the Mekong Delta, a not-so-prosperous land, ready to make their mark on this newly emerging investment hotbed in Vietnam. The project management personnel, with the speed of a running entry, completed the standardized construction of the project department, prefabrication yard, and scaffolding processing plant in 1 months. However, reality often falls short of expectations. Affected by the material entry schedule, the project department's rapid construction progress was delayed, and the project manager was anxious, muttering: “ We absolutely cannot let the inability to open up the work surface lead to complacency among everyone ” . “ reserve time ” , organizing management personnel to further familiarize themselves with the contract and drawings, repeatedly deliberating and modifying the pipeline construction plan, comparing prices for raw materials, refining safety and quality control points, and especially safety management materials, which must be translated into both Chinese and Vietnamese to facilitate the management of Vietnamese production workers. All preparations are to lay a solid foundation for the high-quality completion of this project.
Standardized construction, creating a benchmark for the entire line
The Marubeni Packaging Paper Project in Badi City, Ca Mau Province, Vietnam is located in the Phu My 3 Industrial Zone, Phu My District, Badi City, Ca Mau Province, Vietnam. The owner is Marubeni of Japan, and the installation quality requirements are high. The work undertaken by the Seventh Engineering Department includes: pipe rack fabrication, painting, and installation in the papermaking and pulp workshops; prefabrication, installation, third-party testing, pressure testing, and flushing of pipelines in the papermaking and pulp workshops; storage and secondary transportation of materials after unpacking on site. This project alone includes 7 tens of thousands of inches of pipeline installation and 10 tons of bracket installation, plus the cross-construction of other professions, resulting in high safety control risks and high construction difficulty. To ensure the safety and quality control of pipeline and bracket construction, and to create a highlight of the project's standardized construction, the project department increased its investment in standardization and successively rented 180 lifting platforms locally. At the same time, all construction personnel must pass the project department's three-level safety education and special personnel entry examination. After passing, their job type, number, and name are uniformly written in both Chinese and Vietnamese on their safety helmets to facilitate on-site personnel management. To strengthen the monitoring of the prefabrication yard and material stacking area, the project department installed video surveillance around the enclosure, constantly monitoring the on-site situation, not only creating a benchmark project for the entire line but also highlighting its strengths. The standardized management of the construction site has been repeatedly praised by the general contractor and the owner. 17 Solid work, no small matter in safety and quality
“High-quality engineering is our commitment to the owner, and once we make a commitment, we must fulfill it.” The project department has always adhered to the concept of “guaranteeing quality through craftsmanship and safety through quality” throughout the entire construction process, regularly conducting safety and technical briefings for management personnel and on-site workers, holding regular quality analysis meetings, and exchanging and feeding back on problems, enabling each technician to master the key points of construction control. To cultivate the concept of always talking about safety and doing things safely among every employee of the project, the project department has earnestly carried out safety technical briefings, safety education and training, “Safety Production Month” activities, and organized flood prevention emergency drills. It is precisely because of this persistent work attitude that since the start of construction, the project department has truly achieved “zero accidents” production.
Unite and strive for the best
month, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Vietnam completely closed flights and ports with China. Project personnel could not return home, personnel from China could not come, and material entry was also greatly affected, making it impossible to proceed with the original construction schedule. To solve the problem of the epidemic's impact, the project department readjusted the plan based on the existing personnel, continued to bring in the originally planned additional Vietnamese workers, and assigned some personnel from the existing skilled workers to work night shifts. The existing management personnel also worked in two shifts to ensure that the predetermined construction schedule was not affected.
2020 year 1 The construction schedule was solved, but due to the epidemic, management personnel could only live a “two-point line” life between the construction site and the dormitory. Coupled with more than
months of living in a foreign land, the management personnel were homesick. On the Spring Festival day, the project manager led all management personnel to make dumplings. As a result, the project department completed the construction tasks on schedule according to the plan. The Vietnam Marubeni project department has used its actions to demonstrate the spirit of Er'an people who are not afraid of difficulties, dare to fight tough battles, are good at fighting tough battles, and can win tough battles.
